V-Process Casting

The Vacuum Process (V-Process) is truly a crossover process as it competes at different levels with all the other casting processes. V-Process Casting is a very efficient way to produce both development and low to moderate castings. With the V-Process today, aluminum castings can be produced in quantities from 10 to 5,000 and will produce a quality, high precision sandcast part that will leave the end user extremely satisfied.

The V-Process also offers an environmentally friendly casting process that provides the key factors of speed, precision, and the unique design option of zero draft. Pattern life is extended because the pattern is only contacted by the plastic; therefore sand doesn’t cause wear. When pattern changes are required, they are easy to alter at a low cost. Moreover, the V-Process produces castings with a high degree of integrity and less surface indications than traditional sand castings.

Other advantages include:

  • Zero Degree Draft
  • Excellent Dimensional Tolerance
  • Smooth Surface Finish
  • Thin-wall Capabilities;
  • Excellent Reproduction of Details
  • Low Tooling Costs
  • Unlimited Pattern Life
  • “User-friendly” Patterns; easy revisions to patterns, no metal tooling; good for prototypes
  • Quick Turnarounds and Short Lead Times
